FAQ

Yes, absolutely. This is a very important question! Our static cling window film is 100% safe for all types of modern insulating glass, including both HR++ and HR+++ glazing.

This is because our film adheres statically (without any glue) and contains no metallic particles that absorb solar heat. As a result, there is no risk of thermal fracture. We use the exact same high-quality material for all our designs. Its safety has been confirmed not only by us and the manufacturer, but also by thousands of customers who have been using it successfully for years. This assurance applies specifically to the films from our Uniquewinkel collection.

There is one important condition: please ensure the glass has no pre-existing cracks or damage before you apply the film. If your window is in good condition, you can give it a new look with complete peace of mind.

This is the most important step for a perfect result! The golden rule is: the dimensions you enter on our website are the exact, final dimensions of the film you will receive. We do not trim or adjust the size.

An important tip from us: always order the film slightly smaller than the glass itself. A subtle gap of 1 to 5 mm (about 1/16 to 3/16 inch) between the film and the frame on each side is ideal. Why? Firstly, it makes application much easier. Secondly—and this is crucial—the film must not touch the window seals or the frame, as it only adheres to completely smooth, non-porous surfaces. If it touches another surface, it will peel away.

One last thing to know: the film can stretch slightly (up to 1 cm or about 3/8 inch) while you are squeegeeing. You don’t need to account for this when ordering; you can easily control it during application.

Ah, a classic! The goal is for the top edge of the film to form one clean line across all windows. The solution is simple:

  1. Decide on your desired final height (e.g., 45 cm).
  2. Measure the height difference between the bottoms of the window panes.
  3. For the window that starts higher, order a film that is shorter by exactly that difference.

Example: You want a 45 cm high film. One window starts 5 cm higher. For that window, you order a 40 cm high film (45 cm – 5 cm).

Just place all the films in a single order, and we’ll handle the rest. For a design like ‘Birds on a Wire,’ this means the wire will run perfectly level across all windows, even though the films themselves are different heights.

Technically you can, but we don’t really recommend it. When you order a custom-sized film from us, we ensure the pattern is perfectly aligned. This way, you can be sure you’ll get a complete little house, for instance, and not a design that’s been cut right in half. That’s the Uniquewinkel service!

Yes, our film provides excellent privacy, which is exactly why it’s so popular for spaces like bathrooms. The principle is simple and applies both day and night: the closer something is to the window, the more of its blurred outline you’ll see.

For example, if there’s a plant on the windowsill, from the outside you’ll see a blurry, colorful shape, but it’s impossible to tell that it’s a plant. If someone stands directly behind the window, a silhouette is visible. However, as soon as you are a meter (about three feet) away, the image blurs completely. Your privacy is perfectly protected, all while you don’t lose any precious daylight.

Yes, absolutely! Our window film is excellently resistant to moisture and steam. The film provides full privacy both during the day and at night with the lights on. At the same time, you don’t lose any precious daylight—it’s simply filtered in a beautiful, soft way.

Want to use the film on your shower screen? You certainly can, as long as the surface is smooth and non-porous (like glass or plexiglass). Just be sure to apply it to the outside. This way, it avoids direct contact with water and soap, keeping your design beautiful for years to come.

Whenever possible, we always recommend applying the film on the inside. This will give it the longest possible lifespan, ensuring you can enjoy it for many years.

However, that doesn’t mean outdoor application is out of the question! The material we use is perfectly suitable for it, which we see with our customers who successfully use it to decorate glass balcony railings, for example. Just keep in mind that a film directly exposed to rain may wear out a bit faster. If it’s in a sheltered spot, there’s a good chance the film will stay beautiful for a very long time outside as well.

We don’t create designs entirely from scratch based on an idea. This is because every design—whether it’s printed or cut—must meet specific technical requirements to achieve the best result on glass. For printed films, we test things like color and light transmission, and with cut-out films, not every design is technically feasible. For us, quality and a perfect final result are paramount.

What we truly enjoy doing is personalizing our existing designs for you. This can include adding a name or house number, adjusting the dimensions, or even combining elements from different designs in our collection. Have a creative idea? Let us know, we’d love to brainstorm with you!

Do you already have your own print-ready design, such as a company logo? Feel free to email it to us, and we’ll look into the possibilities of printing it for you.

That’s the beauty of our static cling film: there is no glue! You can easily remove it at any time by simply peeling back a corner and pulling the film off the window. It leaves absolutely no residue, not even after years. You can even store the film and reuse it later. Did you have an old self-adhesive film on your window? The best way to remove that old residue is with a hairdryer and some sticker remover.

No, we don’t offer a separate installation service, and for a good reason! We’ve designed our window film to be so easy to apply that you can do it yourself, even with no prior experience. It’s a fun and satisfying little project. All you need is some water and a cloth—we include a special squeegee and clear application instructions with your order.

Yes, you can clean your window and the film just as you normally would. Use a soft cloth with a standard cleaning solution, like glass cleaner or water with a bit of vinegar.

Just be sure to avoid abrasive cleaners and products containing bleach, as these can damage the film’s surface. An extra tip for films with cut-out designs: wipe gently over the pattern to avoid snagging the edges with your cloth.

Our standard window film has a neutral, sandblasted-effect color. It’s a milky, semi-transparent film that looks stylish on any window. We intentionally use one single type of high-quality material, which means you can perfectly mix and match different designs from our collection. The color truly comes to life in our customer photo gallery.

Have a specific color in mind? We can also print the film for you in a custom color while preserving its beautiful light-filtering quality. Feel free to contact us to discuss the possibilities.

No, our films are decorative and designed for privacy, not for specific solar-control functions like blocking heat. This is also why they are 100% safe for HR++ (double glazing) and HR+++ (triple glazing)—they don’t cause any additional heat build-up in the window. What the film does beautifully, however, is filter direct, harsh sunlight. It transforms that hard light into a soft, pleasant glow, making your home feel much more comfortable without losing any daylight.
